After graduation, you’ll be able to demonstrate ISTE standards for leadership, digital citizenship, content knowledge, and more.
What You’ll Learn
- Understand available and emerging technologies, including classroom and school resources, distance learning and online learning opportunities, and assistive technologies that support and enhance learning for all students in all content areas
- Evaluate students’ technology proficiency and students’ technology-based products within content areas
- Practice safe, responsible, legal, and ethical use of technology and comply with school and district acceptable-use policies, including fair-use and copyright guidelines and internet user protection policies
- Facilitate students’ individual and collaborative use of technology, including classroom resources as well as distance and online learning opportunities when available and appropriate, by planning and implementing equitable and effective student access to technology to enhance student learning

Dr. Timothy Lewis
Faculty Spotlight: Dr. Timothy Lewis, Associate Professor
Dr. Timothy Lewis earned his PhD in Instructional Leadership with an emphasis in Instructional Technology and an MA in Early Childhood Education from the University of Alabama. He has earned Alabama certifications in instructional leadership (K-12), early childhood education, and elementary education. His professional experiences in K-12 public schools included being a school bus para-educator, teaching pre-kindergarten, and serving as an Alabama reading initiative reading coach. He also served as a clinical assistant professor with the University of Alabama, as an instructional design consultant for the University of Alabama’s Superintendents’ Academy, and in various capacities with Tuscaloosa City Schools’ Even Start Family Literacy Program (2001-2004).
At Auburn University at Montgomery, Dr. Lewis draws upon his academic preparation and experiences in management, leadership, instruction, and technology to provide learning opportunities for future teachers and instructional leaders. He teaches courses in instructional technology, and his research interests include exploring the integration of technology into clinical supervision, the impact of social networking on learning environments, and distance learning pedagogy.
Dr. Lewis’s scholarship includes refereed book chapters, seven refereed publications, 18 international/national presentations, and 49 regional/state presentations. He is a certified Quality Matters instructor and a CAEP reviewer, and he has served on various technology committees at the state and regional levels. He was also a member of the 2018 Alabama Digital Literacy and Computer Science Course of Study Committee.
